Review: Lincoln (2012) polished, sober, it is important movie. That not make it an exciting movie. Acting is superb and excellent shooting (including color saturation is pushed back to give an antique look without seeming affected). Clearly, that is an expert in how we expect from Steven Spielberg above may be, no one, at least in the conventional current sense. But two things that make this film a must. One of them is the content. Its close to one of the two or three most important things to ever happen in this country - the fight to end slavery during the Civil War. This is the most powerful substance that will make you cry. (If you do not, you should ask why.) Its so clearly and decisively as possible, while maintaining the layout accurate. The Second, it's just a huge performance, Daniel Day-Lewis. It's so good that you forget that this speech (in contrast, for example, its intensity in Be Blood, who stood out like a piece of tape over the act). Here it is so woven into the fabric of the things that is different from the historical truth, anyway. It's really magic transparent conductive films of this type. Strange performance. It seems blasphemous to say this, but the film is not perfect. Because of its material - getting an amendment against slavery in Congress - which includes a lot of talk and a lot of people who need to keep track of. I think Spielberg made it as good as it can do, then there is not a criticism, but it does not mean the absence of physical and even emotional drama for most of the film. I do not mean your boring, just a conversation. I also found scraps as Spielbergs Frank Capra make movies - and their subjects - a bit simplified. Tie the ends. It does everything a great package, good. Maybe too good for what I would call high art. In times.I think it is easier to judge that for six months or six years. Also the theme makes it virtually impregnable, it is obvious that most of us to pass any anti-slavery legislation.See it for all the reasons you've heard. Do not miss it. Maybe for coffee before going, but you do not see, no matter what. As I have said, is important. Recalls the greatness and it is not something that you miss.
